Dog Training Club

Founded 1960

Susan

I have been a member of the club for what seems forever but is really just 4 years!  I just finished instructing my first Silver class on a Tuesday evening and they took their test on 25th October, I am thrilled to say we had a 100% pass rate.  I have really enjoyed this experience and hope it is the first of many classes I will take for the club.

I am 57 years old, married with 1 adult son who still lives at home. We have 2 dogs and 2 cats who think they own the house! I am an accredited trainer through the Academy of Dog Trainers and Behaviour (ADTB) and am also studying for a Diploma in Dog Behaviour (halfway there). I have had dogs in my life since the day I was born and cannot see this ever changing!

I currently have a Boxer, Bruno, who took 3 attempts before he would sit for 1 minute to pass his Bronze (keep persevering if your dog is the same – they will get it eventually!). We then had a break for a couple of years until we adopted a Staffie cross, Dolly, from Battersea last year. We then put Dolly through the Bronze and she passed first time.  Both dogs then went through Silver with Bruno passing first time and Dolly passing the second time round. Bruno is now near taking his Gold award but Dolly is having a break as she hates being isolated!

I am currently working as a dog walker/sitter as I was made redundant at the end of March 2011 and cannot find another position. This keeps me fit as I walk for at least 2 hours every day!
