Hi I’m Roz
I have been involved, in one way or another, with the dog club for 41 years. I took my first dog Rupert, a retriever, to the puppy class and went on until his adult years. I was invited to become a committee member some years ago and I am still serving on the committee. I have had a stint as the Secretary as well as becoming involved as a trainer and I took up the offer of a trainer’s course with the subsequent exams which enabled me to show others how to train their dogs.
It is very satisfying helping owners with their mature dogs and puppies; especially when they have problems and it is lovely to see them develop, with the dedication of their owners, into happy and sociable dogs.
Over the years the club has seen many changes, one of them being the introduction of the Kennel Club Good Citizen scheme. Initially there was only the one level but The Kennel Club introduced the Puppy, Bronze, Silver and Gold levels which we embraced. I enjoy training the dogs at all levels and am currently taking the Graduate class, the last class of the evening, for dogs who have passed their Gold. We get the chance to have a taste of agility, scent work and more difficult exercises plus a little fun too.
