Hi,

I’m Gill Martin, the current Chairperson of the club. Due to the huge numbers wanting my expert help, I now take 2 Bronze courses in the evening (6.20 & 7 p.m.) I also sometimes take the last class of the night for those who have achieved their Gold and I fill in on all the other classes when needed. I make the tea and sweep up too!!

I joined the club initially in 1982, had a break from 1989 to 1996 and since then I have been a regular. I started taking classes in 2000, firstly the Gold class then Silver and currently the Bronze. In my class I dream of having well behaved dogs with committed responsible owners. Sometimes I get both, sometimes one or the other and unfortunately sometimes neither!

I have personally owned a dog or two since 1982, all rescues.  I currently have two dogs; an elderly lazy lurcher who passed Gold. She still loves coming to the club to meet her friends and catch up. My other dog is a Patterdale terrier – like a brillo pad on legs. She too has her Gold certificate and loves coming to the club, if only for all the treats and tidbits!  I am used to having all sorts of dogs in the class with all sorts of problems and if I cannot find a solution to a particular problem then I know plenty of people who can help.

Our methods are kindness and rewards even if sometimes our teeth are gritted.
